Wow! Hello. I am Brad Abernathy and to make a long story short I am a Christian, a husband of 27 years in 2022, a father to two amazing daughters, a son, brother, friend, Realtor of 27 years, marketer, business owner, Yellow Jacket, tractor operator, bridge builder, partner, ambassador to my community, reader, author, voice of NE Georgia, golfer, outdoorsman, pug owner, gamekeeper, and the owner of one million trees. That is me in a concise way. I am also the creator of The Faces Of, and being asked to fill out this Faces Of interview feels very full circle to me. Thank you for including me. I appreciate all of you so much.

 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Feel welcome to include your family and pets too.
I told Bob Burg once that my family is its own animal shelter. Our present pet family include Daisy, our rescue Brittany. Melly is our baby Pug. Simon is our rescued indoor cat. Alphie is our rescued outdoor cat who is 20! Cheddar and Brie are the once wild kitten brothers that have claimed our back porch as their home.

Q: Where were you born, where were you raised, and where do you currently live (City, State/Province, Country)?
My family has always been in the Gainesville area of north Georgia. I was born in Monticello, Georgia. I grew up in Gainesville since I was one and that is where my home is now.

Q: What is one of your favorite quotes or lines in a song or movie and why does it resonate with you?
I have to go with a Poet here. Maya Angelou's quotes: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” and then her quote, "We are all more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." Both quotes mean a great deal to our efforts with The Faces Of.

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
My whole family has been involved in real estate. After graduating from Georgia Tech, I jumped into this career I always loved.

Q: What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I have been blessed to have helped thousands of people buy and sell property. I see my role as an ambassador for my community. Creating the story of my community through the people here, one smiling face at a time has been incredibly fulfilling and powerful. That is my favorite part

Q: What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Create vision boards! Absolutely anything you want to be, to have, or to attain is possible if you can continually see it in your mind and feel it in your heart. I know that now. I wish I knew that then.

Q: What is one of your favorite places to be or travel to?
Some of the most beautiful places I have ever been are: The Hana Highway in Maui; The Continental Divide on horseback in Montana; Florence, Italy; the marshes of Amelia Island; and Beech Falls Farm in NE Georgia.

Q: If you could choose anyone (past or present, fictional or real) with whom to have lunch, who would it be and why?
Since you allowed past people…I will not pass up the opportunity to meet my father, Bradley Abernathy, for lunch. He left us too early during the aftermath of the terrible recession. When he left, his life was full of stress. I want him to know his son made it through that rough time. I would want him to know his granddaughters grew up in to wonderful young women. I would want him to see what we created. I would also want him to see our beautiful farm. My father loved the land. We would have lunch at the farm overlooking our waterfall. Just thinking about this is wonderful.

Q: Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself?
I work hard to provide for my family. They make me want to be better. However, I drive myself to be a better me.

Q: How did you first discover “The Go-Giver”?
I was at an event called Rainmaker. The speaker was an acquaintance and is now a friend. She told me to go buy “The Go Giver” that day. I did and I loved it. I decided to build my new project, The Faces of Hall County, on its principles. They worked and it has been the best thing I have ever done in business. Since reading it, I have gifted hundred of copies of “The Go Giver” as closing gifts, Christmas gifts, to our high school interns. It has a message that I love to live and spread.

Q: Who would you like to see featured on The Faces Of The Go-Giver Community and why?
Grant Muller. He has a wonderful heart and spirit! I am glad I know him.

Q: Finally, how can we know if someone we come in contact with is a good connection or prospective customer/client for you?
Anyone with a positive mindset and a Go-Giver heart and spirit that wants to build a sphere of influence would be a great connection for us. With us, they can become the most visible, relevant, and influential person in their community.
